Domestic RHI

Launched in April 2014  Energy Innovations has handled over 30 applications for its customers.

The Ofgem administered scheme offers financial support over a period of seven years for owners of domestic renewable heating systems.

The proposed eligibility requirements for the Domestic RHI have changed significantly since the beginning of the establishment process, settled now on a helpfully simple set of requirements.

The key eligibility factors for the Domestic RHI are:

  •  the biomass system must have been installed since 15th July 2009
  • the biomass system must provide heat to a single dwelling capable of obtaining a domestic Energy Performance Certificate (proving that it is a domestic dwelling and not commercial premises)

An introduction to the Domestic RHI can be found here on the Ofgem website and a general eligibility checklist for the Domestic RHI can be found here. For systems differing from these requirements, an easy guide to eligibility for the Non-Domestic RHI is available here.

Don’t let the opportunity pass you by, however, as although systems installed since 2009 can be eligible, applications for systems commissioned as of the April date must be made within the first year of system service.
